The diary is written in first person by the mother of Deirdre. That is, the diary is written from the perspective of Deirdre. Doing this we intend to give her a voice on what happens to her, from her point of view.
Although Deirdre cannot speak and cannot write yet, she understands everything and always says tells us what she thinks and feels. Through her diary we tell the world what she wants to say.
